Awesome Autumn

We have been continuing our learning about Autumn this week. We read the story of ‘Leaf Man’ and made a list of all the different places he might see as he drifted across the sky, floating on the wind. The children made their own leaf art characters after spotting the ones in the book, and used their phonics knowledge to label them. We also used our phonics to sort real and made up words when we played the acorn game on the computer. We used our reading detective skills to find out that the story was set in Autumn and then we went on to learn the names of the other seasons and what each one was like.

The children continued to develop their fine motor skills by making play dough hedgehogs and practised using scissors by creating Autumn pictures. We also had lots of fun playing with our small world woodland creatures.
